He wrote: "She is right, the overhyped movie is neither promoting black culture nor adding any significant value to us... They are using our sentiments to cash in, while the real money makers are the producers, the marketers and the financier..... and they ain’t us! ~FRZ. #FreeTheSheeple"

'Let me take this opportunity to congratulate my husband @vanmohamed for marrying a second wife. Because my Islamic religious practice allows such an arrangement. I advised him to marry another woman. My decision to get a co-wife was triggered by the nature of my job, which forces me to travel away from home often, consequently depriving my husband of basic needs in a marriage.
'I thank him for understanding me and heeding to my request. I am glad to welcome on board @only_chibeb as a co-wife, who will help me in a big way to look after our husband, a responsibility which is very demanding.'
I receive @only_chibeb with both arms, and I pray God ensures peace reigns in our union so that we can live happily forever and ever,' Ms. Abdalla posted via her Instagram page on Wednesday.

Appeal Court upholds the conviction of Ojukwu Roland over $2,917,272.00 fraud

Appeal Court upholds the conviction of Ojukwu Roland over $2,917,272.00 fraud

A three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, has upheld the conviction and sentencing of Ojukwu Nnamdi Roland, who was charged with a $2,917,272 (Two Million, Nine Hundred and Seventeen Thousand, Two Hundred and Seventy-two Dollars) fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The appellant had been arraigned on October 22, 2015 before Justice I.N. Buba of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos for failure to declare the sum of $2,917,272 to officers of the Nigeria Customs Service at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos on October 8, 2015.

The defendant had pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him, thereby setting the stage for his trial. The prosecution counsel, E.E. Iheancho, had presented three witnesses and tendered several documents that were admitted in evidence during the trial.

However, the defendant, who was represented by Prof. Joseph N. Mbadugha, had testified on his own behalf during the trial. In his ruling, Justice Buba found the defendants guilty as charged and sentenced him to two years imprisonment.

The judge also ordered the defendant to forfeit the undeclared sum of $2,917,272 to the Federal Government. Consequently, counsel to the defendant approached the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the lower court.

But in a unanimous decision delivered by Justice Ogakwu Okechukwu on February 15, 2018, the appellate court held that the appeal lacked merit and also affirmed the judgment of the trial court.

Photo: One dead, several injured in bloody attack on LASPOTECH Ikorodu Campus by suspected cultists
One person was killed while several others were wounded when gunmen suspected to be cultists attacked Ikorodu Campus of the Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) on Tuesday.
Spokesperson of the institution, Olanrewaju Kuye, who confirmed the incident said that the assailants armed with guns, machettes and knives stormed the campus from different directions.
On sighting the hoodlums comprising some former students of the polytechnic, terrified students alerted the institution’s security personnel.
“So, we had to chase them out the campus via the polytechnic’s first gate; but when we got there, we discovered another set (hoodlums) approaching from the adjourning village to attack our students," said Kuye
The deceased identified as Ahmed Amao, a former LASPOTECH student expelled from the institution for examination malpractice, was part of the hoodlums.
"Upon sighting our security men the gang began to shoot at will and our security men had no choice but to retaliate. Unfortunately, we hit one of the hoodlums, Ahmed Amao, a former student who had been expelled for examination malpractice. We learnt he died on Wednesday,’’ Kuye added.
He added that but for the prompt response of the institution’s security personnel, many students could have lost their lives in the attack.
Kuye assured parents of the safety of their wards following the attack.
“They should go on with their normal duties because nothing untoward will happen to them. Our security men now wield firearms too and our students have our phone numbers for prompt response. We will not take chances,’’ said the LASPOTECH spokesman.
Confirming the incident, Chike Oti, Spokesman, Lagos State Police Command, said that the attackers were on revenge mission following an attack on one of their members.
Oti said two suspects were arrested with a locally made pistol following the incident.
